I love Crackdown, but games like Kengo and Transformers make me a sad panda

I was late to the party with Crackdown, but I loved it. Great action, crazy stunts, and the kind of attitude that let you pretty much do anything you wanted. Awesome stuff. I wrote up what I thought about it here in case you're interested in the details.

Then I got into some of Kengo: Legend of the 9, panned by most everyone out there. Strike that, it was panned by EVERYONE. But silly me, I though… Continue

Hours of Victory is this generation's Mortyr

Anyone remember Mortyr from the PC? It was a shooter based in WW2 and it was also a terrible, time traveling twilight zone of action split between the 1940's and the FUTURE. I was surprised when a marginally better sequel came out.

I'm a sucker for WW2 titles and I just had to try Hour of Victory and was reminded of Mortyr, only I shouldn't have been. This is the next generation...aren't games supposed… Continue

It's no Undying

Managed to spend some time with the new Clive Barker themed game, Jericho, and I think I would have been better off reloading EA's Undying instead. I was all ready to get to monster mashing with this game and was bored to tears by the hundredth zombie. Not even the cool, bloodstained visuals were enough to stop me from thinking about calling in an airstrike in COD4, or getting jiggy with the sanitarium in Killer 7.

I'd say "It's a rental", but I'm not even sure I'd want to go that far.… Continue

Well, I finally played through Lair

...and I have to say that I really did hate the controls. I'm sorry, but after getting through the game, I still have little love for the Sixaxis flight mechanics. I have no idea how many times I swore at the screen every time my dragon boosted forward instead of turning 180 degrees, or how many manta rays I lost because there's no battlefield awareness to tell me which units are in trouble. Shouldn't I be able to rely on the guy on the back of the dragon, the one who actually had the training,… Continue

Yes, it's true...a WW2 game that doesn't involve a crosshair

Just finished an adventure game called Undercover: Operation Wintersun for the PC. You heard me right, an ADVENTURE GAME that takes place in WW2 and makes you think your way through instead of having to blow up everything in your way. That's like making a game based on the movie Rocky Balboa, only it has you figuring out how to keep Paulie from being an a… Continue
