I arrived at the line in at 8:30 am on three hours of sleep. I beat MGS4 the night before, best game ever made but that is for another blog. Already the line went from the entrance of the Metreon to the end of the Playstation store. By Noon, the line extended passed the very corner of the building. At 1:30 pm, the line went down one complete side of the block and half way around the corner on the other side. I have been to many other events at the Playstation store but by far, I have never seen a line so long for an event ever. Then again its Hideo Kojima an not some Final Fantasy Swag. Kojima made a very rock star like entrance at 4:00 pm from his limo with his staff and model/voice for Raging Raven Yumi Kikuchi. Afterwards, the line started to move and we got in. I got my limited edition MGS4 box signed.
What as interesting was that early on, Playstation store staff said that no pictures where allowed and Kojima will be only signing game sleeves and limited edition ps3 bundles. As time went on, the game sleeve will be for those that bought the game at the store. Sadly, everyone in line ether had the limited edition copy of the game or some other MGS swag. As we where entering the playstation store, we where told that not we could not get our limited edition signed and that Kojima will only sign the sleeve and we are not to shake his hand. Well the further we got in, the restrictions got less and less. So right before I was to get my game signed, it came down to either we get one item signed ( which was reasonable and perfectly fine) or we get a game sleeve. And guess what, they shook our hands and we got to take pictures as well. So was this a PR move to keep the fans at bay? I think so.
A couple of people dressed up for the occasion. I we a total of three Big Bosses from MGS3, one old snake which was VERY well done and one VERY well done Meryl. Other highlights included getting my picture taken with Ryan Payton, assistant producer with Kojima Productions, meeting Neo Gafers (Believe), and being interviewed by Kojima productions. The video was for Kojima and will be posted on the web site. SWEET!!! So in the end, it was a great day. This day will be with me for a long time. I shook the hand of a Gaming God.
