24-7 Internet Radio For Gamers

I'm so disapointed. I was so sure that I'd be buying a console this Christmas. But, Christmas has come and gonna and I never once felt tempted to buy a console. Not once. Why ? I don't see a clear winner yet. Yes, I know who has sold the most, who has the better games, and who has the most potential. But I want more. I want to buy a console without emptying my bank account. I want to buy a console that I know will still work six months from now. I want to buy a console that I know will have great games all the time, not 3 times per year. So, I'm pointing at the big three and I'll calling them out to let them know what they need to fix to win me over.

1. Microsoft : fix your damn console! You, without doubt, had the best line up of games this X-mas, but the fact that your console keeps dying on people is ridiculous. Your failure rate is alarming to say they least, and you offering free repairs wasn't a nice thing for you to do, it was the very least that you could do. If I lived in the USA, this problem probably wouldn't get to me as much, but I don't. I live in Africa, and over here once the 360 dies, the owner = screwed. So if you want me to hand over my hard earned $400, make sure I'm spending it on something I won't need returning in 6 months time.

2. Nintendo : Hey Nintendo, remember us, the hardcore gamers? Those of us who like to play serious games most of the time. Yes, it's great that you've opened a huge market with the casual games, but that shouldn't be all you do. Come on guys, you're making crazy money! Would it be too much to ask that you spend some of this money creating ma few more hardcore games ? And, if that is too much to ask, then how about you spend all that money on some new IPs? Mario, and Zelda are great and all, but it's been 20 years surely you come up with a few new caracters?

3. Sony : STFU! Seriously, your PR only makes me hate you, and does nothing for the console. Let's take the whole rumble debacle : first you try to tell me that it won't work because of the technology (and yet the technically inferior Wii has it no problem). Then you try to convince me that rumble is last gen, WTF ?! Then when you finally do get rumble, you try to tell me that it's due to popular demand. I'm not an idiot, Sony, I know how to read. And I read all those articles that mentioned that you were being sued by Immersion who have the patent on rumble technology. So what you should have done is said something like you can not have rumble technology on the PS3 due to a pending lawsuit, but regardless of whether or not the PS3 has rumble it will still have great games, and offer unique experiences. See ? Your way gamers feel insulted, my way gamers at least know you're being honest. Now, once you've fixed your PR, could stop releasing new SKUs every two months? Pick 2 or 3 and stick with them, please. I can't keep up. Moving on, $600 for a console, what the f*** were you thinking? Seriously? I'm glad you couldn't sell those $600 consoles cause if you had, the PS4 would've probably cost $1000. Finally it wouldn't hurt for you to release more games for your expensive piece of hardware, I'd need to do something in between watching blu-ray movies :-)

It's funny the longest rant seems to be about Sony, and yet the PS3 is probably the console that I'd buy if I had to buy one right now, just because of it's potential...

Nice rant! And your totally right on all points and you missed a few I'm sure to say the least. But really, the 360 is the clear winner. So many great games are out now and have been out for over a year its crazy. However in Africa I'm sure it got to be tough getting anything at a reasonalbe price or on time... I couldn't imagine it. But dude, if your waiting on the fence for these companys to creat the perfect system then your missing out on what has been the best year in gaming ever. I have never been so happy than I've been with my 360 since I got it a year ago. Get a 360 and if you can get a warrenty with it do it, you'll be a happy gamer.. past 2 years of games plus this holidays flood of titles... online gaming and the huge library of arcade games that are already on the marketplace for your picking and its been marked down now... its a no brainer friend, get a 360.

I would NEVER buy a console for its potential, nor for how well it does in sales...but for the GAMES.
I bought a gamecube so I could play Super Smash Brothers Melee (the greatest fan service of our time)
I got (not bought) a PS2 so I can play Devil May Cry 3 and God of War.
I bought a 360 so I could play Ninja Gaiden...yes, if the 360 was not backwards compatible I wouldn't have bought it a year and a half ago. I do agree that extending the warranty is the least that Microsoft could have done...but I do not take what they did for granted, for if I was in your position...I would be playing PC games and PS2 games

We own all 3 and the 360 is by far the best for gaming. I do love the video connectivity of the PS3 and the PSP. This way I can watch videos upstairs that I have stored on the PS3. There are some good games for it but the 360 has many more exclusives. The Wii is a piece of shit my kids play with. Whenever I try to play a game on it I just think of how much better it would look on one of the other consoles.

Good rant! Although some people say they do not care about the potential of a console, I think it is important to look at what games are coming out in the future for each system. It is important to have games that are of interest to you in the future, because you can always buy the games that are out currently. One thing that kinda upsets me is the Wii being called "a toy, not a gaming console." I think that Nintendo definitely needs some games that cater to the hardcore gamers. In the end, it's the games that matter, not the system itself. [Unless of course, you bought your system for something besides games :P]

I love my 360, in fact we had to get two last year, one for me and one for my son... he had a Wii but never touched it so we sold it for the cost of his 360 he now owns. I used to game on my pc and loved it, but after I got my 360 I never had a reason to get up from the couch to game on it. And also I use it to stream any media from my PC through TVersity.. any media and since the last update it now lets you resume, rewind and fastforward unlike before it had issues there.

Get a PS3, Sony can talk all the shit they want and make shit up, but at the end of the day, you'll have a reliable piece of hardware that only gets better with every firmware update they release. And there are many games out there to play now.
